Areesha Atif is a Karachi-based graphic designer and the founder of Areesha GFX, a creative brand she built after teaching herself Photoshop through YouTube in 2022. By her own account, she has completed 750+ projects for local and international clients, and now trains other women in freelancing through her Al Fatimah Online Academy.

Pakistani women are increasingly succeeding in tech and freelancing, often earning equal or slightly higher hourly rates than men, reversing the global gender gap. Though women make up only 15-25% of freelancers, their participation is rising fast, driven by remote work's flexibility, government laptop and training schemes, and growing digital access across the country.

Pakistan offers many free tech training programs in 2026, including DigiSkills 3.0, the PMYP Digital Skills Program, HEC's AI training (which recently graduated 6,000 students), and free Google and Meta courses. The best choice depends on your goals and level. But completing a course isn't enough, turning training into income requires practice, projects, and persistence.

Perween Rahman (1957-2013) was a Pakistani architect and social activist who led the Orangi Pilot Project, helping millions in Karachi's informal settlements build their own sanitation, schools, and housing. An outspoken critic of Karachi's land mafias, she was assassinated on 13 March 2013. Google honored her with a Doodle in 2022.

Zubeida Agha (1922-1997) is widely regarded as the mother of Pakistani modern art. After Pakistan's creation in 1947, she was the first artist to hold a modern art exhibition in the new nation. Trained in Lahore, London, and Paris, she introduced modernism and abstraction, and co-founded the country's first contemporary art gallery.
